ARRIVAL TO OWEN ROBERTS INTERNATIONAL AIRORT (GCM)

Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) is Grand Cayman’s primary gateway as it handles all international flights. Most nationalities - including UK, US, Canadian, EU citizens - can enter visa-free for up to 6 months for tourism or short business visits. You must have a passport valid for the duration of your stay and typically valid for six more months beyond departure is recommended. Always carry proof of onward or return travel, adequate funds, and accommodation confirmation - these may be requested at immigration.

You may bring in up to CI $500 (or equivalent) in goods duty-free - no customs form is required if under this limit. Always keep receipts for proof, as customs officers may conduct inspections at random. Controlled substances, including cannabis and CBD products, are strictly banned - zero tolerance is enforced. If you're visiting on a business-related trip, any soliciting, order-taking, or work-like activity requires a temporary work permit - even for short visits.

Expect immigration queues to vary - busy periods (e.g., multiple international flights arriving simultaneously) can extend wait times from 20 min to over an hour.

Departure security is taken seriously - liquids must be in a single quart-size bag, and items like tools and cosmetics are strictly regulated. It’s advised to arrive at the airport 1–2 hours before international departures, especially during peak travel times.

TRAVEL FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CONFERENCE VENUE

Upon arrival at Grand Cayman’s Owen Roberts International Airport, the most efficient way to reach Marriott Beach Resort or neighbouring Seven Mile Beach hotels is by licensed airport taxi. These are available 24/7 directly outside the terminal and dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis. The journey is approximately 6–6.5 km (3.7 miles) and typically takes about 10–12 minutes. Fares are regulated - expect to pay around CI $20–25 (about US $23–28) for up to four passengers, with minor baggage surcharges sometimes applied.

Many hotels along Seven Mile Beach also offer private shuttle or pre‑booked transfer services, particularly shared shuttles or private cars that include meet‑and‑greet service with your name on a sign, assistance with bags, and comfortable vehicles—particularly useful for group arrivals or if you want a seamless start to your stay.
