Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to Baku for the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors.
Baku, on the crossroad of the famous Great Silk Road, is a city where East and West merge both seamlessly and chaotically. Full of historical monuments and modern architectural masterpieces blended with its multicultural diversity, Baku will be happy and privileged to welcome delegates from different corners of the globe.
The suggested conference subject is focused on the multifaceted role of the prosecutor in upholding the Rule of Law and ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the criminal justice system.
The participants will have an opportunity to discuss and share their views and provide their inputs in the framework of the topic and sub-themes for addressing certain issues such as human rights safeguards, dispute resolution in and out of the court, as well as international cooperation for the sake of fair and impartial administration of justice.
It also covers topics such as procedural equality, sentencing procedures, victim and witness rights, collaboration among stakeholders, transparency, public confidence, and challenges posed by advancements in technology, particularly in the digital age.
I look forward to meeting you in September 2024 to discuss the abovementioned themes as well as questions for discussion.
