ATTORNEY-GENERAL OF INDIA
|
I am honoured to welcome distinguished delegates of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) to India for the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, conducted with the endorsement and approval of the Government of India.
It is a matter of great pride for us to host senior prosecutors, experts, and practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as colleagues from other regions of the world whose participation strengthens the global fabric of prosecutorial cooperation. The chosen theme “Transcending Borders, Securing Justice: Prosecutorial Responses to Illegal Immigration and Cross-Border Crime in a Globalised World” resonates deeply with contemporary challenges faced by justice systems everywhere.
Cross-border crime, human mobility, and technology driven criminal networks increasingly test the capacity of prosecutors. The complementary theme “Illegal Immigration and Prosecutorial Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” highlights the dual realities of opportunity and risk in the digital age.
Artificial intelligence, while offering unprecedented investigative support, also facilitates new forms of crime, requiring prosecutors to remain agile, informed and ethically grounded. International collaboration is indispensable. No jurisdiction can respond to these challenges in isolation. The IAP, through its global platform, has consistently promoted dialogue, standards, and mutual learning.
India is pleased to contribute to this shared endeavour. I congratulate the All India Prosecutors Association (AIPA) for organising this important conference and for bringing together a diverse group of professionals committed to justice. I trust that your deliberations will foster new partnerships, enhance prosecutorial resilience, and contribute meaningfully to regional and global cooperation. I extend my warmest wishes for a successful conference and hope that your time in India is enriching both professionally and culturally.
