ARRIVAL AT INDIRA GANDHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

All international flights land in Terminal 3 (T3) of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

All foreign travellers and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card holders arriving at the airport are required to submit an e-arrival card online before arrival and immigration and present all other documents as per general norms of international travel when requested at the airport (including passport and visa, if applicable and a valid boarding pass).

The e-arrival card must be filled out up to 72 hours before arrival in India. This is a digital-first initiative taken by the Bureau of immigration to simplify the arrival process, eliminate paper-based arrival cards, reduce the queues and save time for foreign travellers.

The form may be submitted through the Indian Bureau of Immigration Website or the Su-Swagatam app. It is strongly advised that all delegates follow this and all other processes required by the authorities to facilitate smooth immigration.

TRAVEL FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CONFERENCE VENUE

Delegate Transport & Security

Airport Transfers:
Delegates will be transported from airport to their designated conference hotels.

Daily Transport: Between hotels and Bharat Mandapam.

Security Coordination: In accordance with international practice, one nominated police officer may be assigned to each country’s delegation to facilitate logistics and ensure security.

TRANSPORT OPTIONS FROM THE AIRPORT

The city, hotels, and the main venue are accessible from the airport via several modes of transportation.

1. Airport Express Metro (Fastest Option)
This high-speed train bypasses all road traffic and is the most reliable way to get to the city centre.

Step 1: Exit Arrivals: After you collect your luggage and exit the customs area, you will enter the Arrivals Hall.
Step 2: Follow Signs: Look for the overhead signs for the "Metro" or "Airport Express" (it's depicted by an orange line). Follow these signs, which will lead you across the hall and down an escalator or lift.
Step 3: Buy Your Ticket: The metro station is integrated with the terminal building. At the station, go to the ticket counter or use the automated Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). You can buy a single-journey token or a smart card. Payment can be made with cash or a card.
Step 4: Proceed to Platform: Go through the automated entry gates by tapping your token or card. Take the escalators down to the platform and board the train heading towards 'New Delhi' station.

2. App-Based Taxis (Uber & Ola)
This is a convenient option for direct, door-to-door service. You must have the Uber or Ola app downloaded on your phone and have internet access (you can use the airport's free Wi-Fi).

Step 1: Exit Arrivals: After exiting customs, enter the Arrivals Hall.
Step 2: Book Your Ride: Open your preferred app (Uber or Ola). Enter your destination. The app will confirm your pickup location as "T3 Pick-up Zone".
Step 3: Find the Pickup Zone: Exit the terminal building from the Arrivals Hall (Ground Level). Cross the first few lanes of traffic, following the overhead signs for "App Cabs" or "Uber/Ola".
Step 4: Go to the Correct Pillar: The pickup area is located in the Multi-Level Car Park (Level 0 / Ground Floor), directly opposite the terminal. The app will assign you a specific pillar number (e.g., "Pillar 15") in the pickup zone. Go to that pillar and wait for your driver.
Step 5: Verify Your Ride: Match the car's number plate and model with the details in your app before you get in.

3. Prepaid Taxis (24/7 & Fixed Price)
This is a reliable, government-approved option that prevents any negotiation or surge pricing.

Step 1: Find the Counter (Inside): Do not engage with any drivers who approach you. After exiting customs, look for the official "Prepaid Taxi" counters (operated by Delhi Traffic Police) inside the Arrivals Hall, just before you exit the glass doors to the outside.
Step 2: Book and Pay: Tell the staff at the counter your exact destination. They will tell you the fixed fare. Pay the amount (cash or card) and you will be given a printed receipt.
Step 3: Go to the Taxi Stand: Exit the terminal building and show your receipt to one of the officials at the designated prepaid taxi stand. They will assign you to a specific taxi.
Step 4: Complete Your Trip: Give one part of the receipt to your driver when you get in, and keep your copy until you have reached your destination safely.

4. DTC Airport Bus Service (Budget-Friendly)
This is the most economical option, with air-conditioned buses running 24/7 to key points in the city.

Step 1: Exit Arrivals: After exiting customs, come out of the terminal building into the outdoor arrivals area.
Step 2: Find the Bus Stop: The official DTC bus stop is not immediately at the arrivals curb. You need to walk to the "Staging Area" (also called the Public Transport Centre). Follow the signs for "DTC Bus" or "City Bus".
Step 3: Locate Your Bus: This bus bay is located opposite the Centaur Hotel, a short walk from the terminal. Look for the bus with the route number or destination you need (e.g., "ISBT Kashmere Gate" for central/Old Delhi).
Step 4: Board and Pay: Board the bus and find a seat. The bus conductor will come to you to collect the fare. Pay in cash (small notes are recommended) and you will be issued a paper ticket.

A few caveats to keep in mind while following this general guide are:-
1. Check Airport Express first/last train timings on the DMRC website or the airport site before planning (trains generally run until 11:30 pm).
2. An airport pickup surcharge on app-cabs has been recently reported by certain quarters, so feel free to compare costs based on your destination with prepaid taxis and the metro.
3. Prepaid taxi fares may not include road tolls, so confirming the route and fare at the counter may be essential.
4. DTC buses are the cheapest but the slowest.
